Get to know the fascinating world of aerial silks. The aerial silks are not only a varied full-body workout that promotes strength, agility and balance while suspended in the air. It is fun, creates community and enables expressive, creative and unique movements and self-realisation. This not only strengthens the body, but also the mind.
What you can expect:
In a motivating and open atmosphere, you will learn the basics of vertical acrobatics (climbing, knotting, wrapping techniques, inverting, drops) from which you will quickly learn your first figures, which you can later combine into a great flow of movement.
The aim of the course is to master the skills you have learnt technically and to combine them into a small individual choreography in order to strengthen your stamina and self-confidence on the sling.
It is tempting to learn one trick after another and skip the basics, especially on the vertical apparatus. However, sooner or later the lack of a solid foundation becomes noticeable. Be it due to an increased risk of injury or unbalanced technique, which can sometimes give us the impression that we can no longer progress beyond a certain point.
Therefore, learning safe and effective technique plays a central role in the courses. From there, figures and sequences can be built up playfully and enjoyed much more.
Programme:
Warm-up + workout (learning specific strength and stretching exercises tailored to the vertical apparatus with and without the apparatus)
on the sling: learn, repeat and combine the basics (climbing, knots, wrapping techniques, inversions, drops)
Cool down
Beginners' course:
The course is aimed at beginners - no prior knowledge is required (you don't need to be strong or agile, this will come with time when flying). What is helpful is a willingness to challenge yourself, build strength and some courage to reach new heights.
Intermediate course & free training: prior knowledge
You should have gained solid experience on the vertical rope over several months and be able to perform the following skills:
- Invert
- Climbing (French & Russian Climb)
- Foot knot
- Catcher
- Hip key (scissors)
- Cross Back Straddle
Please take care not to injure the sling or yourself:
no body jewellery (e.g. earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, festival bands) - tape off with plaster or crepe if necessary
No zips, Velcro fasteners or similar on clothing
Wear clothing that covers the back of your knees, armpits and waist (the cloth can rub a lot). High-waisted leggings and a tight T-shirt/pullover or bodysuit are ideal to start with. Avoid crop tops.
Avoid loose clothing at the beginning. This can catch on the sling, tear and reduce the ‘grip’.
We recommend elasticated clothing with a high cotton content - e.g. jersey.
Fabrics that are too smooth (e.g. jump leggings) significantly reduce the grip on the sling. Velvety fabrics also provide a lot of grip.
Do not eat anything too heavy two hours before the start of the course
Attention: The free training on Monday 20.00-21.30 with Kira Herwig does not start until 28.10.2024
